California
It’s been a whirlwind but we are starting to get settled in our new home. For those of you who missed it, we are in California for a year and will be returning to Thailand in 2014. You can read the details about it in our last email update HERE. It’s a scary thing landing in a place like Los Angeles coming from a place like Chiang Rai. I can’t even describe how different these...

Now that it’s almost August I think it’s about time to finish updating you all on January - June! Medialight 3 was a very different school, as well as a very successful school. We had a total of 16 students from 10 different nations. We could go on and on about...

Jan - June (Part 2)
This is part two of a three part update. If you haven’t read part one, you can scroll down and see it below. When Eunhae got back from Korea it was a few weeks into the school and the students had been learning a lot. Every morning we start with worship and then go right into classes about Christianity and the teachings of Jesus. After that is leadership teaching. The last half of the day...

Jan - June (Part 1)
It’s been many months since our last update and there is definitely reasons for that. In the next three updates we will try to briefly explain the crazy adventure God has brought us on these past months. Our third Medialight school has just ended. We had our most diverse group yet with students from ten different nations. The school was an amazing success and we want to say first that it...

Another year over. Happy 2012!
Happy New Year! We are excited to continue on in ministry in Thailand another year. This first year has been a lot of settling in, learning language, and also traveling to other near by countries to do ministry. This coming year we are excited for two, ten week training schools and a number of one and two week training camps. From our training camps in 2011 we saw students from Thailand develop...

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone!  We have had  a wonderful year serving in Thailand and we could not have done it without all of your support and prayers. Thank you so much! This December we are reminded of the reason we are here in Thailand. Jesus was born to die so that we can live. Share the good news with someone who doesn’t know!

Engage Camp
Posted by: Eunhae We just finished running a week long Thai language photography camp that we call “Engage Camp”. The first engage camp was a summer camp for Christians. Last year our engage camp taught media skills to young Thai Christian leaders. This year was our first camp to have students who are non-believers. We had a total of 18 students. Our youngest student was 14 years old...

A new Thai Christian
Posted by: Eunhae Thursday, a young Thai girl named Icecream who had recently accepted Jesus was baptised. She shared a beautiful testimony that she was born in a Buddhist family and she never heard about Jesus. But now she became a disciple of Jesus. It was really a beautiful moment to watch her and I am really excited for her! 어제 아이스크림 이라는 태국소녀가 세례를 받았어요. 독실한 불교집안에서 자라고, 예수님의 이름을 들어본 적이 없었던 이...

Random Late Night Thought
This is a photo of two former MediaLight students producing some of the only Christian media in their entire nation. Pray for Nomi and Nini as they reach their home nation of Burma. *P.S. Nomi (left) is the wife of pastor Robin and just gave birth to their first child!

...and then we came back home!
Posted by: Drew I’m not even sure exactly how long we have been away. We came home to Chiang Rai this week and are finally getting settled back in. Luckily we didn’t come home to too many bugs in our house! (I think the lizards we came home to helped with that) Drew & Eunhae in Korea Now I will attempt to summarize as quickly as possible where we went and what we did while...

Short video.
Last night (like every night) the sunset was beautiful so we finally decided that we needed to take some video to show you all where we live. We weren’t planning on doing much with it besides showing people but when we were finished we decided to edit it into a short video with music! We hope you like it! Drew & Eunhae

Delicious dinner and other news.
Posted by: Drew Tonight for dinner we went to the nearest market called “Bandu Market”. We love eating market food. Not only is it very inexpensive, it is extremely delicious! We took along the camera to share a few photos with you. [We stopped on the way there to take this photo. Just down the street form our house.] [Eunhae eyeing the fruit. My favorite is the pineapple,...

Lizard things.
Posted by: Drew WHere has time gone? It’s been a week since our last update! Shame on us! Unfortunately it is very late and we are heading to bed, but we wanted to share a photo with you. I just snapped this photo of one of our little friends a few minutes ago. Part of living in Thailand means having geckos in your house. Eunhae isn’t too fond of them yet (though warming up to...

Our Neighborhood
We love where we live! We have so many exciting things right by our house! Mountains, rice fields, pineapple farms, banana trees, fisherman in rivers, lots and lots of scary dogs… We are so blessed to live in our nice little neighborhood in Chiang Rai! Editing Week
Posted by: Eunhae We apologize that we couldn’t update our blog for a few days.  From morning to night (12:50AM now) today, Drew and I are editing for the MediaLight personal fundraising video. It is a pretty long editing day, but I am enjoying it because while I am editing, it reminds me of why we are here and doing this ministry in Thailand. Everything is God’s grace. :)  We hope that we can...

Pastor Robins Church was shut down... again.
Posted By: Drew [Pastor Robin Speaking to his church] We just heard that Pastor Robins church in Burma got shut down by the government again. They have had the church for 7 years now and this will be the 6th time that it has gotten shut down by the government. Since it is illegal to...

Staying Busy
Posted by: Drew We will continue the story of our Burma trip soon but we did’t have a chance today. This morning some of the MediaLight team went to take some photos for a Christian international school right down the road from our house.  They needed some publicity shots as well as year boo type shots. It’s always good meeting new people in Chiang Rai. Tomorrow we shoot more photos...

Burma
Posted by: Drew Where to start… I guess we can start at the end. We are finally home after being away for about three weeks. Our trip was much more than we expected and we have many stories to tell. The day before we went to Burma, We had to go to the Embassy in Bangkok and get our Visas to enter the country. The next day we had to wake up at 4:AM to get to the airport for our flight to...

Golee
This was blogged while in Burma but the government there blocks blog sites so we could not upload it. Posteb by: Eunhae Last night, we met a little boy named Golee. He is 5 years old, and has a precious face with cute smile. Drew and I tried to talk to him, and take photos. He was a great model. We all enjoyed photo shoot time, and he started to play by himself so Drew and I called him. ...

Talking about the future.
Posted by: Drew Today our leader and friend Pastor Chuck Quinley arrived back in Chiang Rai after being in many different countries over the past months. It was very good to catch up with him. This week we will be getting ready for our trip to Burma (we leave to Bangkok Thursday and then on to Burma on Saturday). Most of today we were catching up with Pastor Chuck and he was also filling us in on...

Video Inspiration! →
Whenever we are feeling uninspired we like to take a trip to Vimeo and see what new videos the talented people in that community have posted. It’s a good way to get your creative juices flowing. There is hours of amazingly well made content there but our favorite video so far is a 5 minute short film called “Nuit Blanche”. If you have been around either of us while we were on the internet we have...

New to Chiang Rai.
Posted by: Drew First of all, sorry to the lack of updates the past few days. Our internet connection has been terrible for some reason and it connects and disconnects randomly. Today in Chiang Rai, a mall opened. The “Central Plaza” to be exact. When I came to visit Thailand in October of last year, they hadn’t even started building it. All there was, was an empty plot of...

More editing and the Saturday night market.
Posted by: Drew Today we spent pretty much all day editing. The project is about done. All we have left is getting it approved by our leader, and then we need to color correct it and get it approved by the Eden House People. It has been a fun first project although I am looking forward to more practice and getting better at this. I am learning a lot already and I look forward to learning more. ...

We felt the earthquake and we are ok!
Just about 45 minutes ago we had an earthquake here in Chiang Rai. We now see that it is in international news so we wanted to post and let you all know we are ok! We did get rattled a little bit and it was quite surprising, but there is no damage here. The center of it was about 50-60 miles north of us in Burma. We are praying that everything is ok there. Thank you for your concern and for many...

Rain, Cold, and a Schedule!
Posted by: Drew We’re starting to pick up speed here in Thailand! Last week was unusually cold and rainy for this time of year. Houses in Thailand are not built for cold weather and don’t have heaters or even insulation. This resulted in us digging out or winter hats and scarves and wearing many layers. (We’re glad we actually brought them here, even though we didn’t...

Posted by: Drew Hey Everyone! If you had tried to visit the website in the past few days you probably ended up at the godaddy.com home page. I’m very sorry! I was in the middle of switching domain hosts so it was down for a few days. It seems to be all back up and running again so there should be no more problems from here on out! Let me know if anything is funky though. Thanks for your...
